Taxi driver’s protest-what could b the govt’s. reaction?

Taxi driver’s protestd & goes off the road today due to increase in price of petrol- what could b the govt’s. reaction? will government “Now” be convinced about a public transportation system??
Well, it’s been more than a year after govt tried to introduce bus service in the capital city, male’. That time also drivers complained on that issue, that if the bus service is started there incomes will b gone. “ilyas ibrahim” the transportaion minster dat time met with the local drivrs and there complains& voices were unbearable indigestible for the minster. That is a politically motivated reason y bus service was not started yet. Well, that’s not my concern. My concern is from today morning 6 to eve6 the taxi service was stopped in whole male’ without giving any further notice. Local news papers & media reports that all the social & economical work was effetd by this and the whole city was halted.
This maybe a good time for eyes of the responsible govt officils cud b opened. Also mybe a good time to to make a decision on starting a public transportation rather than just “trying” to do it. Of course, the driver’s voices r true, as petrol prices r rising smthing has to b done to help them..but still, does it mean that we all have to b dependent on them? Well, hope this unexpected protest gives a good lesson to the govt.officials.

PS: othr dan male’ wich I knw laamu atoll, addu atoll, hulhumale there is public transport system..ye, Wen I strtd blogging, I wantd not wrtite on othr issues outside frm my own personl life. But I cdnt help it...

i dnt think thr is much need of cars now coz thr is no house which a person does not have a motor bicycle. in the case of rainy days the car centers r so busy! so i guess its better if they introduce the public bus services. its gonna b cheap n more effective.

n nobody thinks abt the global warminig. at least if some cars r reduced the effect to the global warminig wud reduce.
